If you are not familiar with Salesforce Console yet, you are going to find this blog post worth your while. Already included in the Sales Cloud and Service Cloud license, Salesforce Console is a tab-based workspace suited for fast-paced work environments. It is designed to put your users’ productivity on steroids
When you create an App in Salesforce, you can choose the standard navigation or console navigation. In standard navigation, the tabs are displayed horizontally to access different information like Leads, Accounts, Contacts etc. And you open and work with a single record at a time as shown below (click on the image to enlarge)
However, with Console navigation, you can open multiple records at a time as tabs and the related records underneath that as sub tabs (click on the image to enlarge)
This by itself can be a huge productivity booster as the users need not navigate back and forth between multiple records. With Console, users can work with multiple records on a single screen and reduce time spent clicking and scrolling to quickly find, update, and create records. And then to top it up, they will also get a handy split view that lets you work quickly through a list of records. They are going to love it and love you for bringing it to them
And if that itself is not enough you also get keyboard shortcuts, macros and the quick text to turbocharge the productivity further
But before we get started, here is something that you need to know
Salesforce Console comes in two flavours – Classic Console and Lighting Console. Classic Console is available in Salesforce Classic UI & Salesforce Lighting Experience (LEX) UI. Lighting Console is only available in Lightning Experience UI. So here is how this looks like
Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to configure Console app in just a few minutes. Configure it as a proof-of-concept, show it to your users and if they like it, you can explore it in details (references to some of the useful resources provided under the References section below)
