#1MinuteTip #SalesforceSpring22 You can now set Organization Wide Default for ‘Product’ object in Salesforce. For this you need to
- Enable the Option in “Release Updates” under Setup
- Set the OWD in “Sharing Settings”
But please don’t forget to test it out before updating these settings in your Production Org. Also, as per Spring ’22 Release notes, this setting will automatically be enforced in Winter ’23 Release.
Hi Sir,
I am not able to see sharing rule-related list for Products in my org .
OWD is private for product object . Org is in Spring 23 release .
What may be the issue ?
Hi Umar, have you enabled the setting in the “Release Updates”?
If OWD is private for Product, how to share it?
[Edited] Hi Saurabh, currently there is no option to define sharing rules on Product object like other standard/custom objects.
Hi Asagarwal, from what I can see is that you cannot use Sharing Rules on Products yet.
Yes, you seem to be right Wojciech. I couldn’t find an option to define the sharing rules on Product object. This is strange!
This is not true. While you can now change the Org wide default, there is still not a way to share product records via sharing rules. I’d be happy to be wrong about this. Please correct me or update the comment above.
You’re right Nathan. I don’t see the option to define the sharing rules on Product object.
It doesn’t appear that criteria-based sharing rules are available for the Product like they are for standard and custom objects. Is there a way to share specific product records with specific internal users?
Hi Holly, yes, it looks like currently we can’t define sharing rules on the product object. The only way to share product records seems to be through price books. Please take a look at URL https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=sf.products_sharing.htm&type=5 for more information on this.
