When subscribing to Salesforce.com, Environment licenses (i.e. Editions) can change, but they can only go up in edition, not down. So, for example, in the case of Sales Cloud you can start with Group Edition, upgrade to Professional Edition, upgrade to Enterprise Edition and finally upgrade to Performance Edition. You cannot go the opposite way. So, once you reach Enterprise Edition, you can only upgrade to Performance Edition and not downgrade to Professional or Group Edition.
If at all you want to downgrade the workaround is to export all data in CSV files, subscribe to the new edition of Salesforce.com, import the data from CSV files and cancel the current edition license. Depending on the complexity of the application and the amount of data – this can take substantial time and effort.
Hi Ashish!
Do you happen to know whether it is possible to upgrade a developer edition to something else?
Hi Haris, I am not 100% sure but I don’t think you can upgrade developer edition to something else. The best way to confirm this would be to log a case with Salesforce and check with them.
Hi,
What need to consider before up-gradation Sales Cloud – Professional Edition to Enterprise Edition?
What is involved in upgrading from Professional to Enterprise? Is it as easy as flipping a switch?
Hi Srinivas, you need to contact Salesforce.com, pay the difference and they will upgrade your org to Enterprise Edition. You can log a case if you do not know whom to contact in Salesforce
Yes I’m running into the same problem now. I mine as well just take all my data and being it over to another CRM solution. Can anyone recommend another CRM besides salesforce?
Yes they don’t tell you this when you upgrade! As a loyal customer for 6+ years I am now either stuck on the much higher plan or I have to do all my work over again!! Salesforce has extremely poor customer service and I would not recommend the platform to anyone!
