“Tell” Your Computer to Connect to Salesforce

Tell Your Computer to Connect to Salesforce

Here is a little funky trick. Next time you want to connect to Salesforce, you don’t have to open the browser, type the URL, type the username and password and click “Log In”. All you need to do is to tell your computer.

Okay, before you get too excited, I must apologize to windows users. The trick here is for Mac users. Now since I do not have a Windows PC, I can’t explore this on Windows but can’t imagine that there won’t be something similar on Windows to achieve this. Sorry about that guys.

I was watching a Dreamforce video on IoT (Internet of Things) and the speaker while demonstrating IoT said “Alexa, Connect to Salesforce” a couple of times. What that did was opened a browser on computer and connected to Salesforce. I found that very cool. So till I have my own “IoT” device and “Alexa”, I found a workaround.

Follow this guide and in less than 10 minutes you can start “telling” your computer to connect to Salesforce rather than using keyboard and mouse. How cool is that.

  1. Pretty neat trick! Thanks for sharing. In Windows, you can do a similar thing by creating a script and then launching it by telling Cortana “Open Salesforce.com”.
